I am absolutely delighted to be able to welcome you to the latest edition of NewsByte as the new CEO of HPC Wales. I’m in my third week of the role and have been busy meeting with staff, partners, prospective customers and visiting our supercomputing sites across Wales.
This is the eighth business that I’ve run over the last 25 years, with the past ones being in the USA and Europe and all like HPC Wales are high technology companies. In my past career I have to say, that never before have I received such a genuine warm welcome and I look forward to meeting with many more of HPC Wales’ stakeholders over the forthcoming months.
I left my previous role as CEO and co-founder of Smart Antenna Technologies to take on the opportunity to grow and further develop what I can only describe as a very, very, significant achievement to date. I look forward to working with the team towards what I believe to be a significant future for the venture.
HPC Wales has state-of-the-art resources and has been exceptionally well supported by Government, industry and academia, providing an opportunity for us to set a benchmark in Wales, the UK, Europe and beyond for supercomputing excellence.
My goal is to harness the capability of HPC Wales’ advanced supercomputing technology to drive inward investment into Wales, creating new businesses, jobs and opportunities for business and academic collaborations.
I would also most sincerely like to thank Professor Sian Hope for her role as interim CEO. I believe she made a very significant contribution, helping to develop the venture into what it is today.
Professor Rick Hillum, Chief Executive Officer, HPC Wales.
